Early Action (EA)

A non-binding early deadline — you hear back early but can still compare offers.

Deep Dive & Explanation

EA deadlines mirror ED (November), but EA is not binding — you are free to apply to other schools and do not have to commit until May 1. Some schools offer "Restrictive EA" (or "Single-Choice EA"), which limits where else you can apply early, but is still non-binding.

Why it matters

EA gives you the acceptance-rate boost of applying early without the commitment. It is the best of both worlds for students who have strong applications ready by November. It also reduces senior-year stress — an EA acceptance is a safety net.
