Superscoring

Combining your best section scores from multiple test dates.

Deep Dive & Explanation

If you take the SAT twice and score 700 Reading / 720 Math the first time and 740 Reading / 690 Math the second, your superscore is 740 + 720 = 1460. Many colleges superscore both the SAT and ACT. The College Board now sends a superscore report automatically.

Why it matters

Superscoring means you should not stress about a bad section on test day — retaking the test to improve just that section can meaningfully raise your overall score. It rewards persistence.
